Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I hire a professional makeup artist?

At the end of the day all you have left are your pictures. You want to make sure that you spend as much as you can afford on your photographer, make-up artist and hair stylist.

There are no do-overs on your wedding day. You want someone around who has the experience to handle any situation that might come up, be it an unexpected blemish or a bridesmaid who wants to wear your same lipstick. You want a calming influence around you and someone who genuinely loves to do weddings.

What kind of makeup do you use?

A little bit of everything. I carry a wide range of the best professional products including: Shu Uemura, MAC, Lorac, Stila, Cle de Peau, Benefit, Laura Mercier, Cargo, Bobbi Brown and Nars.

Generally make up artists who use only a single line are young and inexperienced. Often they worked for a specific make-up company and were able to purchase a single brand at a discount. As a professional make-up artist working with celebrities, TV and cover shoots for over 14 years I have found the best products to fit any face and occasion.

Do you have experience with different ethnicities?

I have worked with men and woman of a wide variety of colorings and ethnicities. I am very experience with makeup for Blacks, Hispanics, Persians, Asians and Indians.

Some of my well known clients of color include: Khandi Alexander (CSI: Miami), Karl Malone (NBA Superstar), Jennifer Lopez (actress and singer), Daisy Fuentes (Spokesmodel), Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives), Kelly Hu (CSI: NY), Shazia (Indian Supermodel), Sanoe Lake (Blue Crush).

What is your make up philosophy?

Makeup is an art form and therefore it is subjective. When I work with a professional model the photographer and I collaborate to create a visually stunning look to achieve the goal of the shoot. When I work with a bride, I want her to not only look her best, but also feel completely comfortable.

What happens at the trial?

Plan on 2 to 3 hours and come with your make-up on. I like to see how you see yourself. I ask that you bring pictures from magazines of make-up that you like, preferably of models or actresses with your similar coloring. I also want to see pictures of your self where you look great and maybe not so great. I want to see how you photograph. This all helps me to know who you are and to design a make-up for your wedding day. I start a little on the lighter side and then I will show you a little more. I don’t want you to leave until you are happy.

Wear a white shirt, if that is the color of your dress, and try to plan to go out afterwards. I like to hear how the make-up lasts throughout the night so I can make any adjustments.

Do you do hair?

Makeup and hair are two different specialties. For the best results you really need a hair specialist. I am happy to refer you to someone who specializes in hair.

Will you come to me?

Yes, for the wedding day. I do the trial at either my home in Los Angeles or Santa Barbara.
